Width of actual part pin exceeds width of pad

0

The supplied pads are **2.12 x 1.50 mm**, with 4.232 mm center spacing. Taiwan Semiconductor's SS12H–SS115H drawing, which includes SS14H, suggests **1.60 x 1.90 mm** pads. The transverse width is therefore 0.40 mm smaller, about 21%. This is the issue.

Of interesting note the length is larger on your part and center to center spacing is also different. It looks like the part will still solder anyway but your dimensions do NOT correspond to the data sheet that I got from the link on your site.

Please let me know quickly if you are going to make an update as its easier to get the update from you instead of editing the part myself.

Hi Tim,

After verification, this footprint is compliant with our in-house standards based off of IPC-7351B. The recommended footprint is not used by our team as this is a standard package. No correction is needed.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be happy to help.

Best regards,

OK it sounds like the manufacturer is not controlling tolerances as well as we would like and it is an issue at the manufacturer, I believe is what you are saying because it is a standard package that perhaps should be controlled by IPC-7351B. I would have to contact them to see if they can resolve the issue, unless someone on your end can? Based on what you are saying it is better to have it comply to the standard and I should not change it since it is still solderable anyway.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for following up, and apologies if my earlier message wasn't clear. I didn't mean to suggest a problem with the manufacturer's tolerance control.

The current footprint has already been reviewed and approved by the manufacturer. Please keep the footprint as is. No changes or follow-up with the manufacturer are needed.

If you still want the exact footprint from the datasheet we can create a custom model for you through our InstaPart service, for $29 you'll receive a custom library within 24 hours.

Best regards,
